A friend from IF has taught me how to render animation prepass to animation rendering in Vray for Maya to get rid of flickers from animation. It's worth remembering so I had to put it here for reference.

Sir Eph, thanks for the settings!

This is my second bubble test. I used the same textures but this time using Vray Materials and Lights. Here's what I got. I think this is  looking much better than the once I did using Arnold when it comes to having the bear looking more frothy and soapy. The old version is more on the airy side and bubbly. But I guess both renders are looking fine.

This is a bubble test render I did for a possible commercial project with a friend. He asked me to make tests if I can do a bubble render. So far here is what I got. I render this out in Maya using Arnold. I need to separate the alpha for the fading fringe of the bubbles since I can't find the OPACITY for the SSS material in Arnold for Maya2013. There's an OPACITY  for the SSS material in Arnold for Maya2015, but the parameters are quite different so I stayed in Maya2013, which I am more familiar with. So far, here's what I got. I need to test out another but this time using Vray in Maya.

Not exactly an actual ad, but I did a little test on putting my 3D animals with real photographs (downloaded stock photos) with the HARTIA TOYS logo in it.
My goal here is just simply to merge the 3D elements as seamlessly as I can.

Got their newest buddy, the beaver. I played around with the mood. Here's what I got.

This is my second character. Again, inspired from HARTIA TOYS.

Inspired from the HARTIA TOYS, I created this squirrel made from a box. I am planning to do a couple more box animals using Hartia toys as reference.

These images were done using Maya (Arnold and Mentalray).

I just learned how to render curves using Arnold and here's my test on it.

Here's my final render. Fur's done using Yeti and textures in Mari. This image is rendered in Maya using Vray and post work in Photoshop.

Here's my new personal project I'm working on at the moment; it's the dog model from Zbrush and it's perfect for the Yeti fur. For now, I got it's base texture done in Mari (still learning the program). I'm still trying to familiarize myself with Mari but I think it's turning out to be intuitive. I am hoping in a couple more personal projects and  exercises, I could get the hang of it. Fingers crossed!

Still a work-in progress. This is my attempt in using Mari for textures and Vray for render. Hair is done using Yeti. Simple post work in Photoshop. There's a lot of work to be done. For now this is what I got.

This is a personal exercise, a work-in-progress; I am trying to learn Mari in texturing this model. The intention is basically to create a realistic texture for a game. So far this is what I got.

I did a couple of changes with the image. I made the fur a bit softer and finer and the iris into black instead of blue.

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

This is a personal project I did using Zbrush for the models and textures. Vray in Maya for the final render and Yeti for the fur. Post is done in Photoshop.

For the fur, I used two grooms  and a texture map for densities

Got this old model from Zbrush, relit and made all the shaders from Arnold to Vray. Added yeti hair.Post done in Photoshop.

This is my first try using Mari for textures, still groping around with the program but I find it really user friendly. I'm still on the basics but I am hoping to learn more about Mari in time.

Model is done in Zbrush, textures in Mari and rendered in Maya using Arnold and Photoshop for post.

I created a new version of hair, but this time just the 'groom' and no guide curves. I'm having trouble with the one with guide curves when animating the head. So, hopefully, with this version, it won't do any crazy renders.

My second try using YETI hair in Maya. Still needs a lot of grooming though. I used  curve guides to groom the hair.

It's been a while since I last had a post. Here's my latest test on hair. This is my first attempt using YETI. I'm not really a fan of creating fur or hair, but so far Yeti's not giving me much of a headache.

Testing materials for a project. I used Vray in maya for rendering.
